Let’s Talk About The Dumpster Fire That's The Creative Industry Right Now
Hey, this is Esther, Singularity's founder.
Lemme ask you: Have you seen the data?
Over 50% of creatives are burning out faster than the rubbish heap at Glastonbury, and if you’ve worked in this industry for more than five minutes, you’ve probably felt it too. Long hours, fragmented tools, endless revisions—all this and more have led to an industry-wide breakdown.
You’re not alone. Trust me. I’ve been in this industry for 17 years, and it’s only gotten worse. I’ve watched colleagues go from “I want to help businesses thrive with my design” to “I can’t even open Illustrator without crying.” I’ve had my fair share of all-nighters, missed weekends, and more coffee than any Human should legally consume.
The Brutal Facts
🔥 53% of UK creatives are feeling burned out, according to the Thrive Report 2024. That’s over half of us hanging on by a thread, and it’s even worse for colleagues who are part of minority groups.
🔥 Over 1 in 4 creatives in the UK report having no access to workplace wellbeing support. No surprise we’re all feeling like walking time bombs.
🔥 Globally, 56% of creatives say workload is their top stressor, with more than half admitting they’ve seriously thought about quitting the industry.
🔥 The WHO has classified burnout as a legit medical condition, and yep, the creative sector is leading the charge.
🔥 The American Institute of Stress (yes, that exists) reports workplace stress costs businesses over $300 billion, with a “B” a year—and surprise, surprise: the creative sector is in the top 5 list.
WTF Is Happening?
So, what’s driving creatives to the brink?
💔 Fragmented tools: We’re juggling 12+ apps just to get one project out the door. Why? Because none of these tools actually talk to each other, and every new one that’s meant to “simplify” things just adds another tab we need to keep open.
🐛 Scope creep: The client wants you to add “just one more thing,” and suddenly your clean, minimal design looks like a freakin’ kebab shop billboard.
⌛️ Unrealistic timelines: You’re expected to deliver the Sistine Chapel in two days. Oh, and they’ll “circle back” with 20 rounds of feedback, of course 🙃
💀 The gig economy pressure: More freelancers than ever are working themselves to the bone, constantly hustling for gigs, always wondering if the next paycheck will come before bills pile. It’s enough to make anyone snap.
So, What’s The Fix?
This is where Singularity comes in.
When I started this company, it wasn’t just to develop more creative tools to throw at an already oversaturated market. Singularity was built to fix the chaos—to give creatives a platform that actually empowers them, instead of driving them to an early grave (or at least a caffeine addiction they’ll never shake). We’ve had enough of the burnout culture.
More creativity, less burnout—that’s the goal.
Here’s how we’re flipping the script, starting with branding:
⭐️ All-In-One Platform
No more bouncing between 12+ apps just to finish a single project. Singularity’s Powerhouse (coming soon) is being designed to streamline everything—from brainstorming and market research to execution and feedback. You’ll have everything you need in one place. Hell, you might even finish a project ahead of schedule.
🫀 Human Creativity Meets AI
We’re not here to replace you with a machine (chill, Sharon), but we are here to make your life significantly easier. Singularity uses AI to handle the repetitive crap—data crunching, task prioritisation, even generating our own design iterations—so you can focus on what you do best: being creative AF.
🌸 More Flow, Less Stress
Remember that “flow state”? The magical place where creativity thrives and distractions don’t exist? Yeah, we’re building our software to help you get there by reducing cognitive load. You’ll only see the tools you need, right when you need them, maximising focus and keeping the stress demons at bay.
🌈 Collaboration without the Chaos
Ever been stuck in an endless back-and-forth with clients, who don’t understand what they want, much less what you’re showing them? Our real-time video collaboration feature means clients are involved from the start, reducing the number of painful revision loops (and saving you a whole lotta headaches).
Why I Built Singularity
I’ve worked with some of the biggest brands on the planet, and while the names are shiny, the process to get there was… a mess. Always. I can’t even count the times I was up until 5 AM, juggling dozens of emails, Slack messages, project management tools, timesheets, you name it. The system is broken.
We deserve better
So yeah, Singularity is my answer to years of burnout. It’s about time someone built a platform with the sole purpose of making creatives’ lives easier. No more “do it all and burn to a crisp” mentality. With Singularity, we’re putting an end to that hustle culture BS and making sure the focus is where it should be: creating your best work, without the stress-induced mental breakdowns.
If you’re tired of the same old creative grind, if you’re done feeling like a cog in the machine, and if you’re ready to reclaim your creativity without losing your mind—welcome to Singularity.
We’re doing things differently, and we’re just getting started.
